Shelby Cares | Care
There is strength in caring, not only for others, but for yourself. It starts with self-care - the process of investing in your own physical, emotional and mental well-being.
It is important that we all learn to recharge our batteries when they get run down! We would never let the battery on our cellphones run down, so why do we let our own batteries run down?
It is challenging when students are giving their all to school work, extracurricular activities, jobs, friends, and family to save a little time for themselves. But it is so important that they invest the time to take care of their own physical and emotional needs. While a little dose of stress can give students the extra motivation to meet deadlines or finish on overdue task, constant stress and anxiety can have an adverse effect on mental and physical health.
Smart self-care habits like eating healthy, connecting with a loved one, exercise, and deep breathing/meditation cuts down the toxic effects of stress by improving mood and boosting energy and confidence levels.
Care for others - Those same distractions can sometimes prevent us from seeing the needs of others. If you or a friend are struggling…. care enough to reach out.
