Shelby Cares | Connect
Everyone needs a friend! One of the best ways to take care of emotional health is to have healthy relationships and connections. Some of the basic needs of childhood are love and emotional connection. Kids need someone they can trust to talk to and share their feelings. Through Shelby Cares, our district will continue to work hard to make schools safe, welcoming, and accepting places where students will feel comfortable building connections with teachers, administrators, counselors, and fellow students.
Connecting with others is important to create a sense of belonging. Everyone can feel a little overwhelmed at times, but being connected with others is what helps a person get through the ups and downs of life.
We encourage students to connect with trusted adults or peers with whom they feel comfortable sharing their feelings and emotions. Connectedness is one of the most important factors in supporting students to promote positive health and to prevent further harm if they are showing signs of distress.
