Shelby Cares | About
Shelby Cares is intended to bring attention to and support for the mental health needs and well-being of all of our students and staff. The goal of Shelby Cares is to bring awareness of the importance of positive and proactive mental health care and identify community resources that are available.
Unfortunately, there are still negative stigmas associated with mental illness. It is our hope that this effort will help fight the stigma, provide support, educate our stakeholders, and advocate for equal care. One of the ways to end the stigma surrounding mental health and wellness is to start a conversation about it.
Early detection of mental health disorders is the best way to ensure that a student will be able to reach their full potential, which means our school staff must be informed and equipped to handle these students who may show early warning signs. Remember, everyone has mental health and everyone’s wellness is different. We are extending a personal invitation to the community to join the Shelby County School District in our efforts to recognize that mental health matters!
