Dear Pre-AP Student, We hope you have had a wonderful summer so far and are getting excited to start high school in just a few weeks! Earlier this summer, you should have received an email with the Pre-AP/Honors Summer Reading Assignment details; the assignment posting can also be found on the school’s website, but it explains that we will be starting the year out with Greek Myths. However, several students have reached out about the limited availability of the required annotated text, Echoes from Mt. Olympus published by the Perfection Learning Corporation. If you can obtain a physical copy of this text, the annotation assignment will be easier - I suggest printing the attached PDF of the required readings! The Calera Library offers printing services if you do not have access to a printer. However, if you cannot get a physical copy of the text - please refer to the attached PDF. Within this document, you will find the required readings. Students should still annotate the text per the original assignment but can also do so digitally if they are not able to order a physical copy of the text OR print the attached PDF. Points will not be deducted for submitting digital annotations! We were not expecting the text to be so limited in its availability so we appreciate your willingness to find work-arounds. Student parking will open up for upcoming Seniors June 1 at 3:00 p.m. and for upcoming Juniors June 2 at 3:00 p.m. A Google Form will be emailed to students on the respective days to be completed. Parking for Sophomores will open June 8 at 3:00 pm. Students received an email today in regards to this.

ATTENTION PARENTS: Mandatory high school football parent meeting for the 2024-2025 football season. This includes upcoming freshmen to rising senior parents. Please spread the word to all current and prospective parents. March 20th @ 6PM in the CHS cafeteria (Enter building at the gym doors)

ACT and E-Day Tuesday, March 12 Tomorrow all juniors will take the ACT on campus. Information in regards to this was emailed to juniors. All 9th, 10th and 12th grade students will have an E-Day. Assigments will be sent to these students digitally. They will not report to campus.

Do you like to build things with your hands? Girls Can Camp is a 3-day, hands-on camp for current 8th, 9th, & 10th grade girls featuring carpentry, welding, and electrical specialties. Learn to operate power tools, wire outlets/switches, and weld metal together with fire all while completing your very own take-home projects! Effective March 1, Calera High School will no longer accept drop off items for students in the front office. Please make sure that your child has everything they need for the school day before they leave for school. Thank you for helping us with this.
