Both Health and/or Driver's Ed are offered by Shelby County Community Education over the summer.
Information to consider:
1. These classes are not free and require that you pay tuition.
2. The summer Health class IS NOT the free dual enrollment option offered during the school year for sophomores with a 3.0 or higher GPA and DOES NOT award any type of CCRI.
3. Taking these classes over the summer does not always help with scheduling other courses or programs. If a student is considering taking either of these courses, he or she is strongly encouraged to meet with his or her counselor to discuss his or her "why" so the class is not taken without gaining a perceived benefit.

Good afternoon,
Today, Calera High School was briefly placed on a “Secure the Perimeter” status out of an abundance of caution. This measure was implemented while the school administration, in coordination with our School Resource Officer, addressed an isolated incident involving a student.
At no time was there any threat to the safety of our students, faculty, or staff. The precautionary status was enacted solely to limit hallway movement and ensure an orderly environment while the situation was being resolved. Instruction continued without interruption.
The matter was handled promptly and resolved efficiently. We appreciate the swift response and support of our School Resource Officers.
As always, Shelby County Schools remains committed to prioritizing the safety and well-being of all students and staff.
Thank you for your understanding.
