It was a special day this past Friday for the Public Service Academy at CTEC thanks to the Westover Fire Department's donation of a fire engine that was recently replaced in their fleet. The engine replaces one dating back to the late 1970s that was previously donated to CTEC years ago that is no longer operational.

Schools Open
Shelby County Schools will remain closed on Wednesday, January 17 due to winter weather conditions, including the forecast of a hard freeze overnight. There are still areas of the county experiencing icy road conditions that are not likely to improve until temperatures rise above freezing midday on Wednesday. We anticipate being back to a normal school schedule on Thursday.

We are partnering with Jeff State to provide students who are Seniors in Shelby County Schools an opportunity to participate in a dual enrollment EMS class on our campus. Our students this year are just now starting to do some rounds and getting to participate in the hands-on portion of this 10-hour college-level program. This is Molly Rollan, a Senior at Helerna High School, who is participating in this program. She went out and did her first round of working in the field this weekend! Keep up the great work!

Thank you to Skills for Success and Jeff State for coming out and training our instructors on mini excavators! In the spring our students will be learning how to be mini excavator operators! We also could not have done this without the support from our partners at the County!
