Reading Challenges

About OMIS Library Media Center

OMIS' Library Mission:

To empower students to become successful learners and thoughtful readers by providing access to a rich collection of books and resources that ignite their imagination and foster a passion for lifelong learning.

Library Collection: The OMIS library contains over 5,000 books in print and over 1,000 ebooks! Our books cover many literary genres including realistic fiction, mystery, graphic novels, picture books, nonfiction, and more.

Media Center hours: 7:50 AM-2:45 PM

Circulation Procedures:

  • Student Checkout- 2 books that are due within 1 week. Books may be renewed. Students with overdue books of more than 2 weeks may not checkout. Lost or damaged items will be fined. Items may not be checked out longer than 4 weeks.

  • Faculty Checkout- Unlimited time as needed for print items. Technology equipment must be checked out and returned promptly. Book sets may be checked out for as long as needed.

Technology:

  • Class set of Chromebooks for daily use

  • For teacher checkout...iPads, 3 portable smart TVs with DVD players, a mobile projector

About Me

Keri Harrison

Keri Harrison

My name is Keri Harrison and I have been a 5th grade teacher for 25 years, 18 of them at OMIS. This is my first year to be the librarian and I am excited for what is to come!

I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Auburn University and a Master of Library Science from University of West Alabama. I have 2 sons, one has graduated from Auburn and the other is a freshman.....War Eagle! In my free time, I love to go to Lake Martin, read, and bake.

I am excited to pass on my love for reading to the students of OMIS! I have many fun challenges and activities planned for the year to get students reading!
