This week, Mrs. Pickett had 6th, 7th, and 8th graders come in for an eye opening lesson on empathy. Students participated in a “cross the line” activity and were challenged to consider why it is important to show empathy. Students also learned how to fill out an SEL check in PBIS if they need help or are struggling emotionally. Thanks to Mrs. Pickett for always looking out for everyone!

8th grade ELA students read and annotated multicultural versions of Cinderella to help them answer the question: "Why do people continue to put a fresh spin on old stories?" The classes collaborated in the outdoor classroom to share multiple perspectives regarding how their version compared/contrasted to the original. Everyone had fun listening to the discussion on how the cultural aspects of the story impact the overall message or mood. FLY AS ONE!
