Ms. Baker has over 17 years in education. Ms. Baker has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Judson College, a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Alabama A&M University and a Master’s degree and Education Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of Montevallo.

Kara Burleson

Assistant Principal

Ms. Burleson has over 16 years in education, for seven of those years, Ms. Burleson has been an assistant principal with Shelby County Schools. She earned a bachelor’s of education from Auburn University and a master’s degree in Elementary Education and Instructional Leadership from the University of Montevallo. She is also a national board certified teacher.

Natalie Landrum

Assistant Principal

Mrs. Landrum is a National Board Certified educator with extensive experience in elementary education. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Auburn University, a Master’s degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education (PreK– 6th grade) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and a certification in Leadership and Administration (K-12) from the University of Montevallo. 

 Mrs. Landrum resides in Helena with her husband, David, and their three sons, Hal (19), Hayes (15), and Sam (14). As a family, they enjoy supporting Auburn University athletics, the Helena High School marching band, and all Helena sports. Mrs. Landrum is honored to continue serving the Helena community in her new role as Assistant Principal and looks forward to making a meaningful impact on students and families at HIS. Go Huskies!
