Mrs. Burton is a graduate of Auburn University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood special Education and a Masters degree in early childhood special education as well as Collaborative Teacher in grades K-6. Mrs. Burton also attended UAB where she gained certification in Educational Leadership. Mrs. Burton is a certified academic language therapist (CALT) where she specializes in dyslexia therapy. She taught special education at Chelsea Park for 13 years. While teaching at Chelsea Park, Mrs. Burton was recognized as teacher of the year during the 2014/2015 and 2019/2020school years. In 2021 Mrs. Burton transitioned to an administrative role as a program area specialist for special education serving teachers and schools across the district. Mrs. Burton returned home to CPES in 2023 where she worked as Administrative Assistant. Mrs. Burton is very excited to have the opportunity to continue at CPES in the role of Assistant Principal.
Mrs. Burton lives in Chelsea with her husband, David, and their two children Corbin and Sadie. As a family, the Burton’s enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing sports, traveling, Auburn football (War Eagle!), and horseback riding. Most weekends you may find them at the ball field. Mrs. Burton is looking forward to serving the students, faculty, staff, and parents of Chelsea Park and the community of Chelsea. Go Hornets!
