Ms. Montgomery has over sixteen years of experience in elementary education and most recently served as assistant principal of Montevallo Elementary. Prior to becoming an administrator, she taught at Calera Elementary for eleven years. She has a bachelor’s degree in social work, a master’s degree in elementary education and certification in educational leadership from the University of Montevallo. She also has an education specialist degree in elementary education from the University of West Alabama.

Krista Townsend, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Krista Townsend holds a Master’s Degree in Instructional Leadership and Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a certification in mathematics from the University of Montevallo, and a Master’s Degree in English as a Second Language from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has been in education in the Calera Community for the past eleven years as a classroom teacher and math coach. Mrs. Townsend is privileged and honored to continue serving the students, families, and staff of Calera Elementary.
Lauren Brady Akin, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Brady Akin holds a Master's Degree in Special Education from Mississippi State University, as well as an Instructional Leadership Degree from the University of West Alabama. She has taught in Shelby County School for 11 years as a special education teacher, specializing in behavior. Mrs. Akin is married with three children and lives in Chelsea.
