Professional Development Guidelines (Lee vs Macon)
Addressing Disproportionality in Alabama Public Schools Professional Development has three components that must be conducted annually for all newly hired teachers, administrators, evaluators, and others, as appropriate. Each LEA is responsible for facilitating Addressing Disproportionality in Alabama Public Schools training, maintaining a personnel training database, and verifying assessment documents for each of the three components.

Component Three
Directions to Access Make Sense Strategies Graphic Organizers
The Make Sense Strategies Graphic Organizers that are referenced in the Lee Vs. Macon professional development are available to all Alabama teachers to use freely. They are copyrighted, so they may NOT be posted to the internet, but they can be shared on the intranet (i.e. within Alabama school districts). Editable copies of all of the graphic organizers can be accessed by Shelby County Schools teachers through the Shelby County Schools Shared Server via the public (P) drive. To access, follow the steps below.
- Log into the SCS network from a computer at school
- Click on the folder icon at the bottom of the computer screen
- Click on the drive titled SHARED (\\TNOCSDC120\120\SCBOEPUB) (P:)
- Open the file "Faculty Share” then "LeeVsMacon”
- Open the folder titled "DoNotOpenFolder" (it's OK to open!!)
- Editable copies of all of the graphic organizers are located in this file.
- Before editing or changing any graphic organizer, save a copy of the file to your personal drive in the Shelby County Schools Server (it will be labeled with your login name).

Makes Sense Strategies (MSS) Training

- Part 4 of this site is “Teacher Assessment”.
Answer each question then save and print. Give this
to your administrator and he/she will print your
Certificate of Completion.
- Please keep your Certificate of Completion in a safe place. You will be responsible for this document and it is required for employment in any school district in Alabama.
