Principal: Mr. Andrew Gunn

Mr. Gunn Andrew Gunn was named Principal of Chelsea Middle School in December 2014. Mr. Gunn is originally from Hamilton, Alabama and received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Samford University, as well as an Education Specialist degree from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has worked in education for over eleven years, serving as a teacher, coach, and administrator. Prior to coming to Chelsea Middle School, Mr. Gunn was an assistant principal at Oak Mountain High School, where he supervised curriculum, discipline, and special education needs of sophomore students and was responsible for the school’s technology and safety plans. He currently lives in the Birmingham area and has a five-year-old son, Jack.

Assistant Principal: Dr. Deborah Scarbrough

Mrs. ScarbroughDr. Deborah A. Scarbrough received her Bachelor of Science, Reading, Special Education, and Master’s degrees from the University of Tennessee. She continued her education with degrees in supervision and administration and a doctorate in Leadership and Professional Practices. Dr. Scarbrough served as an elementary teacher for 23 years, an elementary Assistant Principal for one year, an Elementary Principal for 17 years, and is presently serving her fourth year at Chelsea Middle School as an Assistant Principal. Dr. Scarbrough taught courses at the college and university levels and also taught graduate students in the college of education. Dr. Scarbrough grew up in Chattanooga and Memphis Tennessee. She is married to Ken Scarbrough. The Scarbroughs are very proud of their family of two daughters, two sons-in-law, three grandsons, and one granddaughter.

Assistant Principal: Ms. Ann-Marie Sturdivant

Ms. Ann-Marie D. Sturdivant received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Birmingham-Southern College and a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education-Mathematics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She completed her Administration Certification and her Educational Specialist Degree in Instructional Leadership at the University of Montevallo. Ms. Sturdivant has worked in education for over 15 years in both the middle and high school settings serving as a teacher, sponsor, coach, and administrator. Prior to working in education, she worked as a technology specialist installing networks and teaching technology in schools. Ms. Sturdivant grew up in Huntsville, AL and currently lives in the Birmingham area with her husband Dana and their children Adam, Joshua, Daniel, Sarah, and Jonah.
